What Is WeatherXM?

WeatherXM is a community-powered weather network that rewards weather station owners while providing accurate weather services to individuals, businesses, and research organizations. WeatherXM rewards come in the form of tokens, which can be traded or withdrawn for money. All WeatherXM weather stations distribute rewards with a fair mechanism.

Available Weather Stations:

• WB1200 | WiFi: Combines the WS1000 weather station with our open-source M5 WiFi gateway.
• WS2000 Station: An all-in-one autonomous weather station that connects to a nearby Helium-LoRaWAN gateway.
• WB3000 | 4G-LTE: Combines the WS1001 weather station with our PULSE 4G - LTE gateway.

Each of these weather stations is priced at $400, except the WB3000 which is $900.

How WeatherXM Reward Estimator Works

The WeatherXM Reward Estimator uses data to estimate daily token earnings for your weather station. Here's how it works:

Daily Tokens

Let's assume the maximum daily tokens are 3 - this changes based on the number of miners currently online.

Quality of Data (QOD)

This percentage changes daily based on various factors. For example, if your QOD is 70%, you would earn 2.1 daily tokens (3 tokens * 0.70 QOD). QOD varies greatly; indoor stations might have a QOD of 78%, while some outdoor stations can reach up to 93% or even 100%. Beta users who mined before the token went live get boosts, which are not included in the calculations.

Maximum Stations per Hex

There are only 10 WeatherXM stations that can be rewarded per hex. This reward estimation ensures that you are among the first 10 station in your hex to determine reward elligibility.

1. Location

The geographical location of your weather station plays a significant role in determining your rewards. Different areas may have varying weather patterns and data needs, affecting the demand for your station's data. Only 10 WeatherXM stations are permitted per hex.

2. Hardware Class

The type of your WeatherXM weather station hardware also impacts your earnings. Higher-class hardware may provide more accurate data and better performance, leading to higher rewards.

3. Data Continuity

Stations that continuously send data without significant downtime will earn more. Consistent data transmission is crucial for maintaining a high Quality of Data (QOD) score, directly affecting your rewards.

4. Relocation

If you relocate your weather station, there is a penalty period of 7 days, during which your rewards will drop to 0. This measure ensures the stability and reliability of the network by discouraging frequent relocations.

5. No Data Sent

If your station stops sending data, this might happen for various reasons. It could be due to hardware malfunctions, frozen sensors, power outages, or connectivity issues.
